100th Giro d'Italia #3

Posted on: Thursday, June 08, 2017

We have been distracted by the rides, the food and all things Italian but there is a race on and we road to the finish in Oropa on a challenging course. The early training rides in Tuscany kicked in and the group rode superbly.

A stage start the next day. We wandered around the team vans, I caught up with old colleagues still on the circuit. There are no prima donna’s at the Giro, relaxed and friendly the fans mingle with the teams.

The Tour de France organisation needs to take an Italian chill pill.

We are staying some superb hotels and while the locale is a sensation the access at times has required staff and guests to pitch in to avoid derailing our bikes en-route.

Sampling some of the finest food in Lago d’orta we visited an agro tourism restaurant, a fitting finale before the Dolomites and the Stelvio.
